Come join us at Amber-Pocasset Elementary on August 11 from 6:00-7:00pm for our "Meet the Teacher" Night! This is an opportunity for kids and parents to meet their teacher(s) before the first day of school. Parents are also encouraged to drop off school supplies during this time. This will give our elementary staff an opportunity to get those supplies organized before the first day of classes on August 13. This event is for any parent or student that will be entering Pre-K through the 6th grade. We can't wait to see you on August 11!
Members Lillie Richardson and Elliot Lowe of the Amber-Pocasset FCCLA Chapter recently returned from the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America National Leadership Conference in Washington , D. C., where they joined thousands of student leaders from across the nation to compete, develop leadership skills, and represent Oklahoma on the National stage. This year‘s conference brought together more than 10,000 FCCLA members advisors and supporters from across the United States for leadership training, national competitive events, networking opportunities, and recognition about sending chapters and members.
Lillie and Elliot competed in the FCCLA event Focus on Children. Participants use family and consumer science skills to plan and conduct a child development project that has a positive impact on children and the community. This was a year long project partnering with the elementary pre-K classes throughout the school year Lillie and Elliot coordinated reading time and developed newsletters for parents giving them resources to strengthen literacy for Amber-Pocasset students. The ladies competed against students across the nation, including American Samoa-Tonga, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands earning a spot in the elite National FCCLA Top 10 and bringing home Gold Medals. We are so proud of them!

Amber-Pocasset Public Schools is currently accepting applications for an Elementary Special Education Paraprofessional. Job duties would include working in an elementary special education classroom in conjunction with a certified teacher. Benefits include fully funded health insurance and meals. Applicants must submit to and pass a national OSBI felony background check. Job qualifications include: High School Diploma/GED and one of the following:
1. Associates Degree (or higher), OR
2. Completed at least 48 hours of study at an institution of higher education, OR
3. Parapro Certification or the ability to pass the Parapro/Workkeys certification test (district provided)
Additional training may be required after hiring. Any additional training would be paid for by Amber-Pocasset Public Schools.
