The Amber-Pocasset Public School District is committed to providing comprehen-sive educational services to all students with disabilities in the least restrictive environ-ment, The district makes every effort to contact, evaluate and educate all children suspected of having a disability, ages 3 through 21, under the provisions established by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act of 1997 (IDEA). Amber-Pocasset Public Schools also works with the Sooner Start Early Intervention Program in referrals for identification, evaluation and services for eligible infants and toddlers, from birth through two years of age. The Special Education Department provides services for children, ages 3-21, with special needs. These services may include academic supports, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and behavioral supports. Amber-Pocasset Public Schools serves children under the dis-ability categories of Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment, Intellectual Disabilities, Multiple Disabilities, Orthopedic Impairment, Other Health Impaired, Emotional Disturbance, Specific Learning Disabilities, Speech/Language Impairment, and Traumatic Brain Injury. The district will provide free screenings and evaluations to determine eligibility. An IEP will be developed by the IEP team in order to provide a free and appropriate education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment for each eligible student. Amber-Pocasset Public Schools is offering this public notice to all parents and former special education students of the Amber-Pocasset Schools, in regards to the destruction of special education confidential records. In accordance with Federal Law, all Special Education Confidential Records are to be destroyed after maintaining them for a minimum of five years from the last activity date, and a determination is made that the records are no longer needed for educational purposes. Therefore, all inactive special education confidential records over five years old are scheduled for destruction on 05/20/10. If a parent or student wishes to pick up an inactive file, please contact Teresa Thorne at Amber-Pocasset High School (405-224-4017) from 8 am-4 pm, Monday through Friday, prior to the destruction date. Written requests should be sent to Teresa Thorne, Amber-Pocasset High School, P.O. Box 38, Amber, OK 73004.

MISSION STATEMENT
The Amber-Pocasset Schools and communities desire to prepare all students to become productive, responsible, literate members of society and to be given the opportunity to develop their skills, concepts, and values. This will be accomplished through the development of a partnership between the home and the school. The purpose of this partnership composed of students, parents, educators, and the communities shall be to instill the highest standard of academic achievement and appropriate behavior. A positive approach toward appropriate behavior and learning will be implemented in order to develop a high self-esteem in all students. Amber-Pocasset Schools will enforce a firm but fair discipline policy which identifies and communicates enabling them to assume their roles and responsibilities in the learning process.
