I hope this finds you and your family doing well and staying safe. I want to take just a moment to share the Return to School plan for Amber-Pocasset schools for the 2020-2021 school year. As a district, we have been waiting and working to welcome students back since we left for spring break back in March and we are excited about their return. The first day for class will be August 19th and our site principals will be sending out information for enrollment in the next few days if they haven’t already.
Obviously this is not our normal return to school as in previous years. Since March we have been gathering information and guidance from various local and state health officials on the safest way to return for our students and staff. Please follow this link to our. As you are probably aware the information and guidelines provided by the CDC are continually updated as more information is learned about COVID-19, and we will update our guidelines as updates are made.
You will notice in the framework that we will be using information from the Ok. State Dept. of Health COVID-19 Alert System as part of our decision process along with information from our Grady county health officials to determine the appropriate alert level for Amber-Pocasset Schools. Using this information we are currently designating the Am-Po alert level as yellow due to the fact we have a limited number of individuals in our buildings and social distancing can be safely practiced. So at this time face coverings are strongly recommended but not required. This information will be continually monitored and adjusted as needed.
I am also including information you can use to sign up with ourapp if you have not already done so. We use this app to send out text messages for general school information, school closures, etc. We will also be using this app to send out COVID-19 information and alert level information.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we have been working to put this information together.
Jerime Parker, Superintendent
